A nuance: the 50 fps speed mode works exclusively with the electronic shutter—the mechanics are not involved. But regular continuous shooting with flash or mixed lighting uses a physical mechanism. When purchasing a used OM-1, it is important to separate electronic mileage (Pro Capture mode) from mechanical wear on the shutter.

Reading the frame counter from ORF files of the new format

The TruePic X processor keeps strict hardware records of all events in the mechanical part of the camera. The hit counter is recorded in secure non-volatile memory and is written into the file metadata for each snapshot.
