Mileage diagnostics Sony Alpha 6500 (ILCE-6500): the first APS-C with stabilization
APS-C with IBIS: mileage diagnostics for Sony Alpha 6500
The Sony Alpha 6500 (ILCE-6500, 2016) was Sony's first APS-C mirrorless camera with built-in 5-axis image stabilization (IBIS). By combining the best of the Alpha 6300 - 4K video, 425-point phase detection AF, 11 fps - and adding IBIS, Touch Screen and a larger buffer, Sony has created one of the best APS-C mirrorless cameras of its generation. Wide professional use means a rich history of used items.
Built-in IBIS makes the Alpha 6500 indispensable for handheld video shooting. Videographers and documentarians worked on it for hours. When shooting video, IBIS does not add triggers to the mechanical counter, but intensive photography in bursts of 11 fps does. Check the mechanical meter before purchasing.
Stabilization and 200,000 shutter life
The Alpha 6500 shutter is rated for 200,000 guaranteed actuations. A camera with mileage up to 80 thousand is a good buy. Over 160 thousand is a reason for bargaining and inspection. IBIS operates independently of the shutter and does not affect the mechanical counter.
Reading system counter from Alpha 6500 ARW files
Mileage data is stored in a MakerNotes ARW and JPEG block. For diagnostics, you need the original file from the memory card. Our service supports Sony ILCE-6500 metadata.
