61 MP in Alpha 7C body: diagnostics of Sony Alpha 7CR

Sony Alpha 7CR (ILCE-7CR, 2023) is the most unexpected Sony camera in recent years. Sony has packed the 61-megapixel sensor from the Alpha 7R V into the ultra-compact body of the Alpha 7C (no grip, with horizontal controls). It's an incredible combination: 61 megapixel detail that you carry in your pocket. The unique concept has attracted travelers and street photographers who want megapixels without a bulky body. This specialization creates a certain type of intensive use.

Compact 61-megapixel camera for travel - means it's always in your backpack and takes pictures in any conditions. A traveler with the Alpha 7CR can take hundreds of shots a day. Without moisture protection, this is a risk in rain or fog. Check the mechanical mileage and condition of the case before purchasing.

61 MP without a handle: shutter life and requirements

The Alpha 7CR's shutter is rated for 500,000 guaranteed shutter clicks, the same record as the Alpha 7R V. On a 61-megapixel sensor, shutter performance is critical to realizing the sensor's potential. Make active use of the electronic shutter to eliminate vibration while maintaining maximum resolution.

Reading the BIONZ XR system counter from ARW files

The BIONZ XR processor keeps separate records of mechanical and electronic triggering. The data is stored in the MakerNotes ARW block. For diagnostics you need the original ARW from the memory card. Our service correctly separates Alpha 7CR meters.
